You have a recent Dell Inspiron 14 5410 2-in-1 with an Intel i5 1155G7. The fans are extremely loud and stay on even after booting up, spinning at full 3000 RPM. I’m not an expert, but I know tools like Fan Control, MSi Afterburner, and Speedfan could help. However, these apps don’t seem to work properly—they often fail to detect the fans. It looks like the fan control settings might be locked in the BIOS, but I’m not sure how to reach it. Could someone assist me with accessing the BIOS and finding the Dell Fan Control option? Thanks!

Press F12 once the laptop starts up, and you'll see a boot menu where you can choose Setup. There should be an option to tweak the fan curve, though it won't offer the detailed settings you'd find on a non-OEM board. You might manage some adjustments, but the 11th generation Intel processor tends to run hot, limiting your changes.

I understand. The CPU can get warm occasionally, especially when using it for tasks like opening portals, using notepad, and Excel. The classroom feels quite cold, which might explain the fans running fast. Regarding adjusting the fans manually, you should be able to do so through Fan Control or similar apps.

You can utilize Dell's tools to switch between power settings, especially the quieter ones. Dell is known for sometimes using poor thermal paste in their laptops, so upgrading to a better Honeywell PTM 7950 helped my XPS 15 save about 25 watts during heavy use.

The Dell Utility app (My Dell) isn't functioning properly. It's been running quietly for months, but the fans keep spinning at 3000 RPM. It's surprising how much power the fans use even when no startup apps are running or background processes are active. I haven't changed the thermal paste yet and plan to soon.

You can adjust power configurations via the BIOS, though I'm sure you were aware of that before.

I'm aware of that but truthfully, there's a lot of stuff in BIOS which I'm unaware of what it does. I'm gonna adjust the fan curve like @ Needfuldoer suggested me to, but do you know if I could do it manually via FanControl or SpeedFan? I'd like to adjust it manually when I'm in class and when I need the fans for my "light-gaming sesh".

I'm pretty sure Dell has disabled the fans because when I encountered the same problem, I never managed to resolve it. But if you do find a solution, let me know!

I entered the BIOS settings but found only a few choices, mainly "Thermal Mode - Cool, Optimized, Quiet, Ultra Performance." It felt similar to what you'd see in the Dell Utility app, and the quiet setting was already selected. I couldn't locate any other way to adjust the fan speed.
