so i want to overclock and i need some advice. i have a fx 6300 and a cooler master hyper 212 evo. i can't do it through the bios because my motherboard is a gigabyte 78lmt-usb3. in amd overdrive, the turbo clock is at 4.1ghz, and even when my cpu is under full load, i haven't gone past 40c. i'd love some feedback on whether it's even possible to overclock on this board, or maybe i should stick with 4.1ghz but aim for around 4.5ghz. thank you for any help.

from memory, just open the M.I.T tab from the main BIOS screen, move down to the desired option, which should be highlighted, and press the enter key to access it. There shouldn't be any locked-down options.

this process isn't supported through the BIOS settings. you only require the CPU multiplier and voltage controls to proceed.

you don't need to use BIOS, just the CPU multiplier and voltage controls should work

why you can't do it via BIOS? all you need is the CPU multiplier and CPU voltage controls and you should be fine
my mother board is locked and will not allow for me to change voltage and multipliers
you mean locked with a password? you can clear cmos to remove it, if multi and volt settings are locked or disabled then there's something wrong with it, try updating your bios
board isn't the best for overclocking but you should get to 4.2 or 4.3, don't go for 4.5 without extra VRM cooling

Elysian890 explains the issue with BIOS overclocking. They mention needing CPU multiplier and voltage controls, but the motherboard is locked and won’t let them adjust those settings. They suggest clearing CMOS to remove the lock, and if the multiplier and voltage are disabled, there might be a problem. They also advise aiming for 4.2 or 4.3 and warn against going to 4.5 without proper cooling.

I've used that board a few times & there is no locking of settings & nothing to stop you overclocking on it.
