what are your settings for your 1080ti? i know every card is different even if they are the same model. should i set the power target and voltage to max? i accidentally started off too high because i didn't do enough research, got confused, and it crashed my pc. is there any permanent damage?

if you can separate the 970 and 980 clocks you can easily apply this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UH4MU-ZKP1A
to your 1080Ti. it explains power targets and anything else you will need to get hip deep in OC'ing. it explains how to set a baseline. it explains about crashing during stress test and benchmarking programs. it talks about artifacts. the software is certainly dated. the wisdom is not.
the 1080ti is certainly...

The software is definitely old. But the advice is still sound. The 1080ti can definitely run Pong. Tetris might make it nervous, but I'm still wondering what caused this need for OC. Did you change the voltage or just adjust the power target?

The 1080ti can handle Pong. Tetris might make it sweat, but I’m still curious about what led to this need for OC. Did you change the voltage or just adjust the power target? I’m not sure if I should set both to max.

the 1080ti is certainly capable of handling pong. while tetris might make it sweat i am still curious what's led to this need to oc.
did you increase the voltage or just a power target?
i do though i'm not sure if i should slide both to the max
watch and follow that or some other video very carefully. one never slides the voltage to the max straight out of the gate. that's asking for issues. the power limit? sometimes they do. you need to do your own research as well. sure, you can find numbers that worked for other people but anybody can pick up a dead fish. learning how to fish? yes, that takes a while. that video helped me learn a little. i still have a lot to learn.
