Absolutely, that's a completely ASUS board. It would be best to purchase a fresh AM3 model with strong capacitors, especially if the PC's IO shield is detachable. For an AM2+ setup, I recommend the M3N78-EM.
It seems not worth the effort or cost to swap those caps. It looks like they have around ten different DDR2 boards available.
Sure, I understand. It seems you're looking for a compatible AM3 MATX board and need clarification on the RAM type. Let me know!
It seems to be a Hynix DDR2 555mHz board with 512MB per stick. I can share a photo of my ASUS AM2+ with better cases if you need something similar. Regarding the IO shield, is it detachable or are holes drilled into the back? If not removable, you'll have to buy another board; otherwise, any MATX model should work.
For DDR2, you need an AM2 AM2+ swap. AM3 corresponds to DDR3.
Athlon II and Phenom II supported both DDR2 and DDR3 memory controllers. When using DDR2, you should use an AM2 or AM2+ motherboard, which I’m fairly certain is AM2. You could also use a DDR3 board with DDR3 RAM and still run the CPU, though it might not be ideal. I own an Athlon II x4 640 that’s been working fine for years, possibly from the same platform. I’ve used AM2 through AM3+ setups before.
I understand, it seems like the component is easily swappable and matches my B350M shield. I plan to swap out the GPU thermal paste and then clean or replace the CPU and cooler. That should help me identify the board and CPU model. The 'AMD 64 live™' info isn't very useful right now. I still need the RAM package to confirm it, and hopefully the CPU has a model name listed as well.
This part seems to reference an MSI MS-7312 motherboard with DDR2 SDRAM. It mentions compatibility with AM2+ and the possibility of using older RAM before upgrading.
This board is AM2 compatible. It doesn't accept Athlon II or Phenom II processors. It does support AM2 Athlon Sempron models. I'm not certain about compatibility with all first-generation Phenom chips.
