Hello, welcome! I'm having some trouble locating drivers for your Intel SE440BX motherboard. It's currently running a slot 1 Pentium 2 CPU. You mentioned you want to use it for DOS and 98 games, but finding the right USB PNP drivers is proving difficult. You've tried installing a hard drive and loading it in manually. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

The operating system is either an outdated version of Microsoft Windows or a Linux/BSD distribution.

It seems you're referring to a system with Windows 98. Could you clarify what you need help with regarding this setup?

Might gain some traction (or might not) going to one of the free OSes. It’s possible the hardware has been abandoned there too though, in which case nothing is gained. It used to be that a lot of distros specialized in maintaining really old stuff. It’s still true but to a lesser degree than it used to be. The different distros tend to have hardware cutoff points. That machine is liable to be behind the cutoff of at least some of them. Maybe all, maybe not. If it’s not you could suddenly make everything work though.

Typical drivers like chipset, audio, USB and other standard essentials are widely used by most users.

You might check www.vogons.org to see if anyone owns the drivers.
