Looking for assistance choosing a switch?
Hello everyone, I'm new to switches and mostly use wireless routers. I need an 8+ port switch that's easy to use yet educational. As an ASUS enthusiast, most of my gear comes from that brand. Any recommendations would be helpful. I'm aiming for something under $200, possibly closer to $250 if it fits well.
Are you truly requiring advanced management capabilities from an expensive switch? If your goal is simply to link several gadgets together, a basic $30 unmanaged model will suffice.
Advanced capabilities would involve VLANs (primarily for enterprise environments) and link bonding, though most users don’t require these for everyday tasks. You also gain the option to track traffic passing through the switch—something that’s pretty cool, honestly—but I doubt it’s worth the cost of a switch that charges triple or more.
This product is a 16-port Gigabit Ethernet switch from TP-Link, designed for network optimization with shielded ports and a fanless build. It’s built to be durable and reliable for desktop use. Perfect for managing traffic efficiently.
Typically, TP-Link offers reliable networking products, so you're in good shape.
