Looking for assistance choosing a new RAM?
Hello everyone, I'm currently using RAM at CL15 with a 2400mhz clock speed. I've noticed a drop in performance when running speeds below 3600mhz, so I'm considering an upgrade. I'm curious if the RAM I'm thinking of is suitable for CL16 and 3600mhz. My current specs are an Asus Prime X570-Pro with a Ryzen 7 3700x, RTX 3080. I'm unsure if this will meet my needs and there are many price differences to consider. Would you recommend the Crucial RAM I linked or are there other options you'd suggest?
top offer atm found recently, https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-16gb-288-...ption=cl16 3600&cm_re=cl16_3600-_-20-232-195-_-Product. Four sticks perform better than two, though it varies with your budget. A 3080 model suggests going for four, but you can always add more later if needed.
the essential components are likely e-die, with slightly relaxed timing—better suited for intel builds and higher frequencies (it's a solid setup, probably capable of some crazy frequency overtones). the gskill kit is standard b-die; if you don’t intend to overclock or fine-tune, the difference won’t be significant, around 1-2%. after tuning the gskill sticks down to cl14, you might see a boost to 14-15-15 with higher voltage, though it depends on whether that’s worth the $20k investment. your decision is up to you.
We're discussing around 3600MHz and aiming for a sweet spot of 3700x. That typically translates to a certain number of frames per second depending on the settings.
