It won't work because there aren't enough PCIe lanes available on the CPU. You'll mostly get x8 connections, though there are many boards that support this. Dual x16 is only available on high-end boards.

I understand Blender isn't a huge factor for x16 versus x1 on bigger projects where timing matters more. I think others would agree with that. The key issue is that loading resources into VRAM is constrained and slows things down, but after everything is loaded it runs similarly fast.
