I'm checking if anyone knows a motherboard with an H110 chipset. It seems your board might have been damaged, possibly blowing smoke out. You're planning to rebuild a PC with a 6th gen Intel i5 6600k and need help getting it working again.

You wouldn't bother swapping a H110 for a used Z170, and it makes sense to keep a K-series chip on a H-series board.

That’s what they told me it was—a Skylake board and CPU. I haven’t been into hardware much lately; my last build was back in 2005.

the h110 serves as the lower section of the basic board for the 6th generation, but it doesn't align well with any K CPU's h110. The b150 h170 z170 are clearly superior alternatives, though I wasn't completely surprised the h110 failed.

Thank you for the details. I will now try to find a Z170.

This chip should also fit most Intel 200 series (LGA1151) motherboards. Confirm with the manufacturer's support page.
