So I was thinking of upgrading my stock trading desktop this new year. From my research and guidance from this forum members it appears such upgrade (CPU+mobo+RAM+NVMe SSD) will cost me about $600+. I have deferred my plan to go that route for the moment. Now I seek this forum's help to see what incremental improvements I can get from my current config (say add another 8GB of RAM, or upgrade CPU to next gen Xeon etc). Also, I am fine with the used parts since this is a workaround till I do the major upgrade after the supply improves: Here is the thread, that gives background of the goal I had in mind ( In summary, this is for a non gaming, compute heavy productivity application. Processor:Intel Xeon E3-1230 V2 @ 3.5GHz Motherboard:SUPERMICRO MBD-X9SCI-LN4F-O LGA 1155 Graphics:NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Memory:24GB DDR3 SSDTongueNY CS1311 480GB SSD

It seems like you're already using one of the top CPUs available. The RAM shouldn't be an issue for you? You might want to hold off on upgrading right now. I'm not sure how much your software uses threads, but a mid-range setup like the HP Z620 could work for around 400. However, single-core performance will likely lag. If that's the case, consider getting a more affordable or used Ryzen machine instead.

The results are quite promising. The benchmark using Novabench (free version) performed well, and there are some notable aspects to highlight.
