He should get a wifi adapter that works with 802.11n routers. Bluetooth isn't a concern here.

Adapters are related to cables. I believe you meant he needs a different WiFi access point since it has an 'N' designation, which is associated with the fastest speed. Is he requiring 5GHz? If not, the ASUS PCE-N15 performs quite well.

He doesn’t require a router. The issue is he can’t connect a cable from his desktop to the router, and the motherboard lacks built-in Wi-Fi.
