Looking for a way to connect two Lenovo ThinkPads to three monitors?
I own a Lenovo Thunderbold Dock that can connect three monitors. I use it with two ThinkPads, but currently I have to manually detach the USB-C cable from one laptop and connect it to the other during switching. To fix this, I'm looking for a solution. All KVM switches I've found only support one or two monitors. If you know of a model that supports three HD monitors, please let me know. Another possible option could be a USB-C switch, similar to a manual cable switch. Thunderbolt is definitely required, and with it the three monitors should work. Would anyone know if such a switch is available?
Hi,
Have you discovered a fix for your issue? I’m still dealing with the same problem, so I reached out to the seller of the product at the provided link. The search results suggest looking for CableDeconn USB-C Type C on Amazon, but it seems more suited for video output rather than general data transfer. I’ll let you know if I come across any additional solutions.
I didn't find any solution at the moment. It looks like something essential is always missing, such as support for three monitors or USB connectivity to the dock (which seems absent with many supposedly Thunderbolt cables I found). The switcher I discovered seemed promising, but the instructions explicitly warn against connecting it to a USB-C docking station. I might end up purchasing two Thunderbolt cable extensions like this one:

Hoping they can support 3 monitors on HD and USB, which would simplify switching. Still, I'll have to do it manually.
I considered building an electro-mechanical switch by rerouting all the wires from the Thunderbolt cables using relays. I anticipate problems with shielding, and it might need a delay during switching as well, which could lead to issues if the connections aren't properly synchronized or left disconnected.
It's hard to believe such a switch hasn't been developed yet.
