Looking for a suitable motherboard for your CPU upgrade?
Hi, I've decided to upgrade my FX8300 for Ryzen 5 3600 (initialy I was gonna buy the 3700X, but I looked at comparisons and graphs and for what I will be doing - gaming(nothing serious - aiming for high FPS) and productivity - it didn't seem to be worth the higher price) because it really struggles from time to time when I have multiple applications opened at once - I did not do a wise CPU purchase back then, it was my first time building a PC. I chose HyperX Predator RAM (2x8GB 3200MHz with CL16 - I think the timing/speed ratio is fine (but then again I know close to nothing about it)). I don't know about the motherboard though(B450 vs. X470). I don't really need wifi or bluetooth - I would fancy having USB-C port for my RF headphones receiver. Also I need M.2 port for an extra drive. Good VRMs cooling is must have too, I don't think I will be overclockin that much though. I was looking for a while and found the Asus Strix Gaming MB, which seemed fine, but the price for X470 one was kind of high. My budget is somewhere in between $200 and $225. My current system: I really appreciate all replies. Sincerely, Peter.
The TUF Gaming X570-Plus by Asus is a solid motherboard rated A, supporting up to a 3950X with ambient cooling. It includes two M.2 slots, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C, and more. Priced around $165, you can find it at the link provided. The X470 Taichi is also available but may need a BIOS update and is pricier.
this b450 tomahawk max fits well with a 3600 setup. keep in mind it doesn't have pcie gen 4 support. if you need that, consider an asus or msi x570 instead.
These motherboards work well with Ryzen 5 systems. The most affordable option is a solid choice.
