Looking for a router with a basement finish?
I've installed Ethernet throughout my basement and require a router. It uses cat6 cable with separate runs to each device. I have a managed Cisco switch, likely gigabit capable. My USG is blocking access to it, though my Ubiquiti products still function properly. The wireless access point works well for everything. Can you recommend options? I'm not trying to cut costs but want a comprehensive setup without overspending. I aim for layered networking, guest access, guest Wi-Fi, IoT devices, gaming, servers, and possibly a DMZ. I'm new to networking and have been delaying this project until the basement is ready. Bonus points for rack-mounted solutions.
play with guessing Wi-Fi on a single network and a server running independently. I have two Wi-Fi routers at home—one from my ISP and another covering the other half of the house I own. I manage both myself, and I prefer the one I own over the ISP connection because it can be controlled directly without remote access.
The interface offers limited tasks once logged in. Many configurations are reachable via UniFi Network. Also, the USG includes a reset feature—press it for ten seconds while powered on—to restart and sync with UniFi Network.
Configure a pfSense device or purchase a NetGate unit. Arrange VLANs with unique SSIDs for each, ensuring UniFi and pfSense work well together. I use this setup myself.
