In short, you're weighing an upgrade for your Ryzen 5 2600 board. You're considering the Ryzen 7 3800X at $589 versus the Ryzen 9 3900X at $779. It's hard to say if the higher price is justified, especially with some price differences that might seem odd in Australia.

I own the ASUS ROG Strix X570-F board mainly for gaming, but I’m beginning to work with Solidworks and CAD for school. I’m thinking about upgrading to get better prepared for Doom Eternal, even though I don’t believe it will offer much advantage.
