Looking for a game to play with my son is fun, but it’s tough to find something appealing. Here are some key points to keep in mind:
- No need to choose between local and online; we both have computers.
- We’re open to 360 controllers or any help picking one.
- Neither of us enjoys sports games, shooters like Counter Strike, or intense boss fights.
- I prefer first-person and third-person experiences, but not too many RPGs. 2D games are okay for me.
- Budget matters: if we buy two copies, I’d like the total under $60.
- Both computers are capable, so system requirements shouldn’t be an issue.
- A good story is important to me.
- Co-op play would be nice, but not required.
- I’m open to suggestions and want a variety of titles to explore.
If you have more ideas or details, it would help narrow things down! Thanks!

Factoriow is a concept that comes to mind. It's available on Steam.

Most games I’ve played are shooters. I’d recommend "Enter The Gungeon," though the bosses can be tough.

Let me listen to your shooters. Perhaps you're familiar with some we haven't heard of yet.

The main titles I enjoy are the Borderlands series. Orion: Prelude is a solid choice for just a dollar. It's a cooperative battle against dinosaurs where you team up with three different classes, each having unique abilities. You can purchase weapons, upgrade your character, and acquire vehicles and other items. It's a lighthearted and engaging game.

Consider strategy games such as Civ 5, where the entire DLC is frequently discounted. It can take some time to enjoy. I believe you need a particular personality type to appreciate it. I enjoy it and have friends who share that interest, though some may not. The AOE series also comes to mind, along with Terraria or Minecraft.

You might want to consider getting a WiiU.

Does your son enjoy 2D games? The Assassin's Creed series includes a few 2D titles such as Assassin's Creed Russia and Assassin's Creed China. These games are 2.5D with stunning visuals, which might be perfect for him. Try them out! Another 2D game I've played is Shank.

I suggest exploring an MMO for playing. This seems like the easiest approach. Online platforms offer emulated versions of old consoles (like GameCube or N64) through simple searches. These let you experience games from any device except the newest models. For cooperative play, the Borderlands series stands out—it's highly replayable, fun, and includes RPG elements with customizable weapons. You can often find bundles with DLC on Steam or other sites. These titles are manageable depending on your preferences, feature some role-playing aspects, and let you personalize gear. Watching gameplay videos can help you decide. For MMO options, it's hard to recommend much unless you enjoy RPGs. Consider researching and selecting a few based on your group's tastes, as there are many choices available. When looking for emulators, search Google for "console emulators" and follow guides to locate ROMs or ISO files.
