I don’t agree with that. The QVO works well for gaming but isn’t suited for high-speed large file transfers. I’ve played games on it that ran just as smoothly on my 970 Evo Plus as they did on my Steam Library. I tried several titles and noticed no difference in performance. My load times stayed around a second for each game.
Regarding using it for copying libraries or transferring 4K videos, I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s designed for gaming and Oculus Rift, not for handling big files or media creation. My current setup uses a 970 Evo Plus NVMe, an 860 Evo, and an 860 QVO to reflect my experience.
Additionally, I didn’t limit myself to just the 3600 RAM model; I also considered other options that offer more memory at a lower cost. Of course, cheaper RAM with slower speeds can still be suitable, but the best choice for around $80 is one of those that balances performance and price effectively.
Games are now available in sizes exceeding 150GB. With a stable internet connection over 75MB per second, you can fill a QVO drive quickly. Writing speeds may lag behind a traditional HDD. The storage offers solid read performance, which isn't the main concern here. I'm using an 850 EVO, 850 Pro, Intel 730, and an Adata SX6000 Lite. (split between desktop and laptop.) I'm looking to reduce expenses, so why suggest adding RAM at the same price point? Provide a recommendation and I'll let you know which card outperforms both. It was technically 75 down. I've started tracking upload speeds since using fiber. Things are improving—I now have choices like 50/50, 100/100, or 1/1Gbps for fiber. Fixed wireless is maxing out around 300 or 400 Mbps. I'm not in a major city, but I'm close to some. Even off Comcast, they usually have 100 or 200 down plans.
He can find improved SSDs at similar prices, so why suggest the QVO? Other options might be cheaper and actually superior to it. The CL19 3600Mhz often underperforms compared to the CL16 3200MHz version at the same cost or better.
Take the rocket drive I mentioned—it’s roughly the same price but significantly quicker.
