Hi everyone. My friend is looking for a new laptop with a budget of £500. I checked some options and found a few that seemed good, but I’m not very familiar with the specs yet—I’m still learning about PC components. The Dell models I saw are the Inspiron 15-5000 and the Inspiron 15-3593. The issue is with their processors: one has 1GHz with double the cores, the other 1.20GHz with half the cores. He mainly needs it for work, wants long battery life, and needs something reliable without lag or stuttering. Thanks!

Neither matches the performance of a Ryzen 5 4500U. For better speed and longer battery life, consider an Acer Swift 3 or Lenovo Flex 5/IdeaPad 5 equipped with a Ryzen 4000 series processor. The 10th gen ULV i5s tend to overheat, consume more power, and deliver poorer results.

Check out the IdeaPad 5 series from Lenovo. It features a 15-inch display and is designed for productivity and creativity.

These are standard clock speeds. The i5 will run faster on single-threaded work, which is usually the case in desktops—though laptops are different. In multi-threaded scenarios it will also improve noticeably. Avoid choosing a dual-core model right now.

They were searching for a Ryzen but found many running very hot. They decided to skip it. It looks like a mistake. Thanks!

Zen 2 offers superior performance compared to any Intel processor and operates much more efficiently, producing significantly less heat. The 4500U consumes around 26 watts while delivering power similar to a 45W i7.
