I reside in a quite remote area and am searching for a reliable gaming spot. The Wi-Fi connection is extremely slow, only 0.5 Mbps, while our Verizon hotspot provides 3 Mbps on good days and 5 Mbps otherwise. Do you have any suggestions for better hotspots? Thank you!

The choice will depend on the actual ISP more than the gadget itself. Online gaming isn't just about speed—downloading updates will be frustrating with such a sluggish connection—but it's really about latency. Wireless links will always show latency that varies from poor to almost nonexistent.

It might be wiser to focus on single-player titles.

In what general region are you located? A precise suggestion is hard to make without more details. It might help to ask nearby people who have internet access about their experiences. Playing games on cellular data won’t be enjoyable, especially for fast-paced or reaction-based titles, due to poor network performance. Online FPS and similar games will be affected the most since cellular connections often lack low latency. Other options are less important. Sadly, no alternative can match a stable wired connection from your ISP for speed. Rural internet usually relies on cellular, satellite, WISP or DSL services. Even direct wired connections like DSL lose quality as you move farther from the data center.
