I'm checking the MSI overclocking tutorial and wondering if it suits your setup since you just installed an X73 processor.
There are numerous YouTube tutorials demonstrating how to modify a 9900K. I assume this guide is suitable since it comes from MSI, but always review multiple sources to grasp the overall trends. Keep in mind that the 9900K was popular during its peak, and if it was produced after that era, it likely lacks significant room for improvement as newer models replaced it. My 9900K ran at 5 GHz all-core with a 95°C temperature during stress tests using the same cooling setup in my system, including a high-quality cold plate. It became extremely hot—heat wasn’t effectively dissipating to the heatsink due to poor thermal interface material beneath the IHS. Hopefully this doesn’t repeat with your unit, but it was quite challenging to achieve. I used 5 GHz all-core, 46-47 ring bus (exact value forgotten), and estimated VRIO around 1.3. From a real-world perspective, modifying a 9900K isn’t worth the effort unless you’re targeting a 5 GHz all-core configuration; otherwise, gains will be minimal. Still, it’s enjoyable and motivating to try. I expect only 1-2% FPS improvements at my resolution, but the process is rewarding regardless.

Additionally, I've found success with ASUS Real Bench. If you can complete the 8-hour stress test, it's a good sign. Adding a few hours of AIDA 64 normal testing and then another set focusing on the FPU option in the torture test makes it even more reliable.
