Hello All,
I need to upgrade an old Toshiba laptop. It meets all my requirements but feels slow and bulky. I’m open to used or refurbished options.
My current model is a Toshiba E45WC.
Toshiba Satellite Radius 14 E45W-C4200X - 14" - Core i3 5015U - 6 GB RAM - 500 GB HDD - specs available on CNET.
It’s a 14-inch 2-touchscreen with a backlit keyboard and a 256GB SSD. The processor is only 6GB.
I’m seeking another 14-inch 2-touchscreen laptop with a newer i5 or i7, 8-16GB RAM, 256-512GB SSD, backlit keyboard, and a lighter design.
My budget is approximately $550.

I believe your budget is insufficient...
8th gen i5 instead of i3, convertible touch screen, 8GB, no SSD.

For a noticeable upgrade, aim for around $800
$667
10th gen i5, 256GB SSD (likely SATA), 8GB

$800
10th gen i5, 512GB NVMe, 8GB

Only a used laptop fits within the budget you set. It’s suggested you raise your budget to $1,000 and consider purchasing an ASUS ZenBook Flip 14.

For that price range, consider a laptop with at least 8GB RAM to handle multiple apps smoothly. Acer Aspire models are solid choices; aim for the Aspire 5 if possible, otherwise the Aspire 3 works. You can also find good budget options with Intel i5 10th Gen processors and some with newer 11th Gen CPUs or AMD Ryzen 5.

Do you enjoy playing games, and which ones do you play?
