It looks like finding the right setup is quite challenging. I’ve noticed some 2x16GB Crucial kits, which would be enough for two units, but there doesn’t seem to be anything truly exceptional available. AMD mentions a Ryzen 2700X can handle 64GB RAM, and many makers support that, though nothing matches the exact specs you’re after.

Are you sure you must use every single stick at DDR4-3200? With a Zen+ CPU and a B450 motherboard, running all four sticks at over 3000 MHz could be challenging. The Integrated Memory Controller in Ryzen 1000 and 2000 series isn't very strong, making it hard to reach high DRAM speeds. This is much harder compared to the 3000 and 5000 series. Plus, you're filling up all four memory slots.

Are you sure you must use every single stick at DDR4-3200? With a Zen+ CPU and a B450 motherboard, running all four sticks at over 3000 MHz could be challenging. The Integrated Memory Controller in Ryzen 1000 and 2000 series isn't very strong, making it hard to reach high DRAM speeds. This is much harder compared to the 3000 and 5000 series. Plus, you're filling up all four memory slots.

I’m not confident I can exceed 32GB with just two sticks. Right now I use 2x8GB at 3200MT without any problems—just enabled XMP during setup and everything functions perfectly. I’d really prefer more than 32GB, unless AMD is being misleading about these chips’ capabilities; they claim support for 64GB.

The storage size (such as 64GB) isn't the main issue — the Ryzen 2700X and the motherboard can handle it. You can simply purchase two 16GB units or similar configurations to match the requirements. The challenge lies in running four memory sticks at high speeds. You might be able to run two 8GB modules at 3200MHz, but achieving four 8GB or four 16GB modules at 3200 MHz could be difficult or impossible. Lowering the frequency to around 3000MHz or 2933MHz becomes more likely, and adding more sticks increases stress on the memory controller, potentially limiting performance.

It's disappointing. I also reviewed the QVL and found that very little, if any, of what I need is available in production now. It seems like I might have to abandon what I have. A 32GB upgrade would help later, but it looks like this platform isn't great—especially if you can't find compatible memory with better specs at a larger size.

You don't have to rely solely on the QVL. That list matches what MSi has verified in their testing. Also, memory makers have phased out some models in favor of RGB versions, even when the specifications remain unchanged. At frequencies around 2933/3000/3200 MHz, I’d consider kits with CL14 or CL16 timings. CL18 isn’t very precise, not even at 3600 MHz.

Right now, I haven’t used any 2x8GB kits yet, but I’ve owned multiple machines with 8GB storage each over the years. I’m aiming for a big upgrade and was thinking about extending the life of this setup.

Crucial offers a 2x16GB 3200MT kit with CL16 timing. It might need some adjustments. It’s not the ideal choice yet, but it’s better than what I currently have. I’ll probably wait for an HEDT platform next time to avoid these constraints.
