I feel a strong longing to revisit the past and discover exactly when I first experienced a Steam game.

You can verify the purchase date, though it's unclear if it's listed there. It may appear in your hours-play timeline.

I’m not sure, but I recall feeling really frustrated. I’d been away for years when I bought a new PC, grabbed a few games from the store, and came home eager to play once installed. Used to go through some online verification steps, but never opened a game box to find a slip of paper telling me to download the game—there was no disc at all! Once I switched to Steam and started buying games digitally, I liked it at first, though I was initially upset about being pushed into digital purchases.
