From the start using a 3600 bone stock, I needed to swap out the cooler because it was overheating frequently. Temperatures often exceeded 90°C. A friend suggested using a Hyper 212, and even though the system clock increased with Prime95, it still reached around 89°C. I went for the highest airflow option available—Noctua NH-D15. With Prime95, it drops to about 80°C. Shouldn’t this powerful cooler perform better? My room stays at just 21°C, and I upgraded the case to a Lian Li Lancool II Mesh.

The Hyper 212 works well for cooling the stock 3600, but I’m curious why a D15 isn’t doing the job. Have you reached out to AMD or the store where you got it? It seems like this CPU isn’t behaving as expected.

What kind of thermal paste you're using? Which case are you using? Many people overlook that cooling a CPU in a case involves more than just the CPU cooler.

Yes, the Noctua cooler typically comes with thermal paste already applied.

Not every paste is suitable initially.

Certainly, but it shouldn't cause the CPU to operate at its maximum capacity.

Occasionally it isn't, but the tube of NT-H1 thermal paste included with the NH-D15 works well.

Not pre-applied, just arrives in a small 3.5G tube on the side.
