Are there any suggestions on why the dongle for the controller fails when resetting or cold booting? The device manager reports an issue until the receiver is removed and reinserted. This occurs every time the PC restarts or powers off. It’s been a problem for about a year, mainly while playing games I don’t play often, but now the FF7 mod with 60fps has let me resume playing and this issue is becoming more bothersome. I’ve also tested different USB ports.

I believe I've discovered a fix—there seems to be a physical toggle on the controller for direct input or x-input. When using x-input, the controller appears as an XBox 360, but after installing the driver solely through Logitech's Gaming Software and configuring it for Direct Input, it no longer shows up as an XBox 360 and continues to function properly, even resolving connectivity issues. After rebooting my PC post-driver install, I didn't see any incorrect devices in Device Manager, and replaying FF7 works flawlessly. I'll return tomorrow to finalize this or share more thoughts.

Have you installed the specific drivers from the manufacturer, or are you relying on the built-in Windows driver? It’s also conceivable that Windows itself is the issue. Are automatic driver updates disabled? I usually keep them enabled unless they create issues. Usually this isn’t a problem nowadays, though it can happen occasionally. What version of Windows are you using? Which build do you have?

I visited Logitech's website and downloaded the "Wireless Gamepad F710 Connect Utility." I removed the faulty device from Device Manager, then used the utility to disconnect the receiver, remove its battery, reinsert it, and replace the battery. The utility reported completion, while Device Manager listed an Xbox 360 Controller for Windows. I haven't rebooted my PC yet because I recall performing this action multiple times when first receiving the controller. The driver version is dated 12/6/2019, but it lists Microsoft as the provider, which seems to indicate a built-in Windows 10 driver was installed instead of the one from Logitech.
