my location isn't being detected for some reason. Some of the sites i use need to track my location but they can't detect it for some reason. I have another windows PC and a mac which neither have this problem. I'm not sure why my new PC is having issues with location detection. I've tried google chrome and Microsoft edge, both are having the same problems. Anyone have any ideas how to resolve this?

Because you're unsure about how these sites identify your position, it's hard to assist effectively. A possible approach is using the IP address. You might attempt to turn off IPv6 on your computer, which would make IPv4 more consistent. This difference can occur across various devices.

In the Windows Settings panel, are you enabled for Settings > Privacy & security > Location > Location Services? Also, is the option 'Let apps access your location' activated?

this might impact performance. is this a problem? it seems to be working in Microsoft Edge but not in Chrome, especially with location detection on Google Chrome. i've checked the settings and don't see any issues preventing it. specifically, fanduel and draftkings need location data, but it's not functioning properly in Chrome for me.

Disabling IPv6 doesn't negatively affect performance. It may resolve certain network issues, since despite being an established standard for a long time, IPv6 still handles less traffic than IPv4. Consequently, ISPs tend to pay less attention to problems with IPv6.
