I have my server, modem, and router all in the attic. The network connects from every room, using Cat5e except for my room and office—one has a work PC and the other a gaming PC, which uses Cat6a. I connect the Mobo to the 24-port 10G switch via Gigabit ports, but my connection speed is capped at 10 Mbps (100 Mbps). My Mobo has a 100Mb port, so I need a NIC that supports RJ45 and can handle 10Gb or at least 5Gb over a 5-port device. Plus, I’m not confident in the cables I bought online or at stores, so I’m looking for the best brands and sources for Cat7 and Cat6a to upgrade everything to Cat6a in my room and office. It’s definitely a big change, but worth it if it works.
