Good morning. I'm a recent IT professional based in the UK. The handover document had very limited useful information, with most of the password details being incorrect. I'm currently trying to locate our Office 365 license source. When installing, I was told to fetch the license from the web, but now the computer refuses that option and only accepts a direct code. I need to understand where the "web grab" is happening so I can provide the correct code.
According to what I understand, 365 is a paid service where you must sign in with your admin account at www.office.com. Add the user to your subscription and remove anyone who has left. For business licenses, log into your account there and verify your subscription. If it's private, check your own login details.
Office 365 licenses are best allocated on a per-user or per-month basis. You can purchase a fixed quantity of licenses and then distribute them to users within O365. As an administrator, you should be able to view the available license categories, quantities, and which user holds each license. That’s the current setup for us.
System providers offer O365 with a preinstalled license for one year. However, you must sign in at office.com and connect it. O365 is an online platform; it’s free to access office.com and use web-based tools. With the license, you can install it locally according to your needs, though some business licenses restrict downloads.
It seems to come from an external provider, since regular users only have E2 access for the charity, and I don’t think licenses are being issued directly by the app itself. It likely comes from a third-party source.
