Just starting out here, backstory says I found some old brake rotors in my truck and ended up hauling them into a scraper. While loading them into his trailer, I nearly hit a big PC case. He told me I couldn’t keep it, but I was determined to check it out. After cleaning it up, I reached out to you all for advice. It’s a bit of a story. The machine has an i7 2700k chip, Radeon 7800HD GPU, and a ROG Maximus iGPU. I’ve been updating drivers and Windows, but the main point is whether it’s worth keeping—it’s free and sometimes hits around 30 FPS, though it gets pretty hot, like in the 70s when I ran tests. Thanks to your videos, I learned a lot, but I’m still learning. Appreciate all the help!

I’m thinking about playing some games. What do you plan to do?

I used to favor consoles once and wanted to try something else, but finances were tight like everyone else. Nowadays, I mostly watch YouTube, and honestly, it seems like a waste if this platform really helps with gaming.

it came with two SSDs and one traditional hard drive. I cleared out the previous owner’s data since they probably discarded it because it wasn’t working. The dirt inside made cleaning tough, so I used dusters repeatedly; it almost stopped me from selling it. I thought the PC was overheating from the airflow.

It remains playable, though it lags behind newer configurations. Still, it offers value as a solid setup and the cost was fair. The biggest advantage is its free nature—it's perfect for practicing original content creation and system tuning, helping you understand how to adapt and optimize. Even if things fail, it doesn’t mean you’re losing anything meaningful here. Just keep pushing forward and enjoy!

Not a bad find! definitely worth keeping or selling, not garbage by any means and should not have been in a scrap pile if it actually still runs. I would look at doing some routine maintenance on it, like cleaning and maybe redoing cpu thermal paste then do a clean windows install and update drivers. Should be a fine rig for some light duty gaming at 1080p resolution. The graphics card is a radeon hd 7850? its old but still ok, should be able to play games on low medium no problem.

It’s definitely necessary for optimal performance, that’s for sure. It really looks impressive!

Really? That's enough on its own.

I thought Benchmark mentioned HD7850, and Free works well. I was surprised he said he was just going to scrap it.
