Loading cycle on Windows 10 version 1809 and flickering on the welcome screen.
Hey everyone, I waited until the all clear on Windows Update 1809 after Microsoft made a mistake with it initially... Just installed now and am stuck with a flickering welcome screen that keeps loading issues. The build specs are listed below and there were no prior problems before the update. According to what I've heard, it's possible to go back to the previous version. Can I revert this when my system doesn't even boot fully? I made a restore point before installing the update, but Windows Recovery doesn't recognize anything. I'm worried the restore point might only exist for a non-boot drive, which would be really frustrating. A few conflicts I think could be causing the problem:
- Penumbra 10 installed, possibly clashing with the new dark theme
- OldNewExplorer (needed Penumbra 10)
- UltraUXThemePatcher (also needed Penumbra 10)
- An older version of rainmeter
I'm trying to create a Windows Recovery USB in hopes it'll help. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Edit: Managed to fix the issue by disconnecting all unnecessary USB devices and letting the setup run in safe mode. Updated December 9, 2018 by Macboi
