This PC appears as shown in picture 1, but you'd like it to resemble picture 2. You're aiming for the user folders to look like they belong to this PC, though you found quick access adds extra steps when attaching an HDD or flash drive. You're using Windows 11.

In the top bar, tap the three dots -> settings -> modify the path to This PC. That should work fine.
