They performed poorly compared to last year's mistakes. Key reasons include Ubisoft's obvious issues, EA's questionable rebranding of BF4, Rebellion's key problems with Sniper Elite 3, Activision's generally poor performance, and M$'s reputation for fun games. Bethesda didn't create ESO, it was developed by Zenimax under their umbrella.
EA and Ubisoft are the main ones anyone recalls from GFWL... Most other publishers had terrible PC releases, but in 2014 only these two stood out.
I mostly understand your point. Activision was enjoyable before they shifted too much toward COD elements. I appreciated the early games but found the later ones became overly repetitive.
My take. - SEGA of America for mishandling the Phantasy Star saga - Ubisoft for their obvious pride and taking over projects to bury themselves - EA due to the terrible tales from their support team and harming Maxis - People Can Fly since the instant they entered Gears of War, it turns into a lazy party of lies - EPIC titles for letting People Can Fly damage my beloved modern series
