Hey there! Yes, you can dual boot both macOS and Linux on the same laptop. It’s a common setup, and you don’t need to pay for Parallels. Just choose the appropriate installer for each OS and boot from your USB drive when needed.

Avoid purchasing Parallels for virtual machines. VmWare Fusion and UTM are available at no cost. Dual-boot is possible... unless you're quite daring (Asahi Linux)

I tried setting up Asahi Linux on an M2 Mac Mini and it functioned well. M1 models should work even better. The installation script (a macOS command you run) will walk you through the steps and let you choose how much disk space to dedicate to Linux, enabling a dual-boot setup. Be aware that the project's main developer recently left due to controversy, so expect limited future updates. For convenience, consider using a VM with UTM for a simpler experience.

It can be quite challenging, as removing Asahi Linux requires specific technical skills and a thorough understanding of the system.

I tried the "asahi linux wipe script" and it worked well for me, though developers warn against using it as it could be risky. They recommend a manual approach instead. More info is available at the provided link: https://leo3418.github.io/asahi-wiki-bui...heatsheet/
