Notably, OP encounters the same problem across several distributions already. @Od1sseas wondering if the setup matches what's on your profile machine?

I believe the lag comes from gnome interfaces because I tested on an i5 6600 with GT730. The interface caused slow responsiveness, but after installing Debian with KDE and updating packages, that issue disappeared. Personally, I don’t think power users really need gnome for everyday tasks since it feels quite heavy compared to other desktops. Also, did you see the reboot after installing drivers and updating your software?

I work with gnome and face no issues on older systems. The logs should be reviewed.

I faced the same problem when I installed Ubuntu 18.04 a few months back, the animation felt very slow, though it was likely just a power-saving feature. I had to run a command to disable it and everything worked perfectly afterward. I’d love to share the command, but it was tough to locate in Linux, even though it’s powerful overall.
