Linux Hybrid Graphics Combining Intel and NVIDIA Technologies
Linux Hybrid Graphics Combining Intel and NVIDIA Technologies
It seems the X server faces difficulties in properly handling and allocating drivers to various cards. My goal is to achieve this because I need to run a small display using Intel graphics and use NVIDIA 980 TI for GPU-heavy applications, with occasional GPU passthrough for QEMU/KVM. I'm disappointed this isn't more simple. I'm currently using an ASUS ROG MAXIMUS HERO XI WIFI with an i9 9900k. I first used Ubuntu 18.04, then Manjaro XFCE. The stable Manjaro 18.04 version won't even boot the live USB. I moved to 18.1 pre-2, which worked and installed, but only supports the Intel GPU. The hardware recognizes NVIDIA, but xrandr doesn<|pad|> to show it. I'm considering updating to the latest Ubuntu, but before deciding, I'd like to know if others are tackling this issue. Let me know if you're also trying to resolve it—please share your experience.
