I'm not very comfortable with Linux overall, so I'm recommending Mint and Ubuntu.

From what I’ve seen, they’re essentially identical. Mint looks a lot like windows.

Because I dislike the usual interface on Ubuntu and don’t have the energy to tweak it outside of work hours

I discovered the mint flavor was too strong and lacking after using it for a week prior to setting up Ubuntu.
