You're evaluating a path from the office to your home. A VPN server could be suitable, depending on your requirements. Do you just need access to the office network, or do you also require connectivity to your home network? If you have a public static IPv4 address at home, you might set up a static route and use a DNAT on your router to forward traffic appropriately. Do you already have the necessary hardware installed? If yes, what type of equipment are you using?

When Hamachi was available, it offered the simplest way to create a VPN between two networks using free software. Now it's managed by LogMeIn and costs a subscription. Below are several free and open-source options. Alternatively, if your routers support VPN functionality, you can opt for this method, though it requires more setup. You'll likely need assistance from your IT team to configure it properly.

It's tough to say, but I'm trying to get connected to the office LAN. I've been learning the basics and planning to buy a COMPTIA Network + book soon.
