Dear All, I seek your guidance. I’m a junior network admin working for an unnamed company. We use an outdated integration system that reads barcodes via Serial connection over TCP/IP. The older readers have a RS 232 port linked to a Lantronix Serial to Ethernet adapter. This adapter functions as a COM server, sending data from the barcode reader to an application that listens on a particular port and IP address. It’s working fine. However, there’s a problem… The new barcode readers purchased are USB devices. Is there software or a method to convert USB barcode readers into a COM TCP/IP server? Can I set up or simulate the COM server (essentially the Lantronix device)? Thank you for your advice!

For creating a USB device reachable via TCP/IP, check the USB/IP Project at http://usbip.sourceforge.net.
