Hello everyone, I’m facing a problem with displaylink or graphics drivers. I’m using Linux Mint 20 Cinnamon on my XMG Neo 17 (E21) and have a USB-C docking station with two monitor outputs connected to it. When the monitors are plugged in and the dock is connected to the laptop, the system freezes and shows a black screen instead of the desktop. Booting without the dock or with it works fine, but adding monitors also causes issues. When I disconnect the dock, the screen appears as it was before unplugging. Also, shutting down while monitors are connected leads to a hang. I’ve tested various distributions (Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Neon, Pop OS) and drivers (version 5.4.1 for displaylink, different graphics card drivers). The issue persists on all of them, even though performance is decent on Windows 11. Additional note: the system also freezes when I change the screen order in the configuration. Dmesg displays system logs, ctrl+alt+f3 shows kernel messages, and unplugging displays post-hang may affect functionality.

Nothing functions properly when the system stalls. I must power it down by pressing the power button. This prevents me from reaching the command line with Ctrl + Alt + F1 or Ctrl + Alt + F3. I’m unsure if this will work or how to view dmesg. Another issue is that during freezing, the fans increase their speed.
