Limited funds, beginner, upgrading to RTX 3070? Need some advice!
I’m preparing to switch to the new RTX 3070 and need compatible components for my PC. I’ve already chosen a Ryzen 5 2600 as the CPU and selected a B450 motherboard. The main challenge is picking from the many available B450 models without overspending. I also require a suitable power supply and CPU cooler, keeping in mind a limited budget. My current setup uses a Cyberpower GMA3400BST with an RTX 1660 installed. I’m looking for parts that fit my existing build and stay affordable.
RTX 3070 and the older 2600 model don’t work well together. This setup will cause performance limits. Consider a B550 board with a Ryzen 5 3600 or better. If you’re on a budget, wait for an RTX 3060 unless you plan to play in ultra 4K. Avoid buying a B450 board—it restricts you to ZEN 2 and blocks upgrades to ZEN 3. Also, a B450 lacks PCIe Gen 4 support, which might reduce performance even if it isn’t a big issue. I don’t have your current system details, but it seems to use an A320 chipset. I’d recommend a B550 now and keep your existing GPU for now. Upgrading the CPU will significantly improve gaming experience. Once new models launch with stable pricing, think about upgrading. Give drivers a couple of weeks before they stabilize. Don’t worry about the power supply right away—it depends on what you already have.
