It can be done on a Kernel Level, I don't know what all that depends on however. What your looking for is available with TLP . If that looks a tad complicated, someone has written a Graphical User Interface for it, TLPUI . Just be sure to install TLP first.

I haven't tried it yet, but this page should have what you're looking for. To check the values: cat /sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/charge_control_end_threshold. For instance, echo 70 | sudo tee /sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/charge_control_end_threshold
