Hey there, welcome to the forum! I'm just getting back into PC gaming and building around the past year. I recently assembled a new rig using an Alder Lake CPU and a basic DDR4 board—my plan is to upgrade to a better chipset once DDR5 arrives. I'm not aiming for overclocking this H610 Gigabyte board, but I notice it hits a core power limit after about a minute of sustained load. Here are some screenshots to explain the problem. I've already set PL1, PL2, and IccMax high, but changing them to 'unlimited' or 4095W didn't help. It seems like the issue might be with the motherboard itself. The BIOS is up to date (version FD). During normal use, hwinfo doesn't report this under regular conditions—even when running Cyberpunk at full resolution, I wasn't using any special coolers and was pushing my AIO. Thanks for your help! P.S. Component list: i7-12700k, 16GB Crucial DDR4-3200, Gigabyte H610M (Rev.1.0). CoolerMaster 850W modular PSU, MSI RTX 3070, Corsair H100i, 240mm AIO.

Did you confirm removing the plastic from the AIO prior to installation? Yes, it can happen sometimes.

I've seen plenty of builds on YouTube and noticed typical errors. The temps look okay for that AIO/CPU setup.

It seems the design likely handles high power without restricting it. Considering the type of board, it might include safeguards to avoid damage.

My perspective is that these boards are mainly suited for non-K chips. The VRM on H-series boards is made as affordably as possible and is ideal for office computers. I believe gamers nexus shared a video about this some time ago.

The device lacks sufficient power phases for your processor to function properly.

Your board's VRM performance aligns closely with the Asrock B660M-HDV and Asus B660M-K models shown in HardwareUnboxed testing videos. Even without a hard-lock, it struggles with throttling and overheating at 12700K, just like those two boards when using the same voltage. The presence of an AIO keeps your setup in a low-airflow environment. Consider this VRM cooling solution: https://www.silverstonetek.com/product.p...20&area=en and pair it with an Arctic P8 PWM (80mm) fan. It won’t be ideal, but it should prevent throttling and maintain stable temperatures. https://www.arctic.de/us/P8-PWM/ACFAN00149A And for under $31 before shipping, you can use lower-quality VRM boards with most CPU coolers for years of reliable performance across various builds.

You're welcome. I've connected the power limit breach to the VRM hitting 100°C consistently. Appreciate the support!
