The measurements rely on the hole's center, not its edges in the same way. Use the 1-inch line as a zero and continue from there or with the mm measurement on the tape. I note this because the small hook at the end isn't very secure and may shift slightly, which could affect accuracy. It’s usually better to get results from the backplate rather than the holes, as those will provide a more precise value when checked or measured.
