LG32GQ950-B now displays higher brightness and richer colors.
I recently purchased this monitor to get ready for the RTX 4090, and I've really enjoyed it since it arrived. However, today I encountered an unusual problem. After launching Resident Evil 5 to check for auto HDR support, the colors and brightness on my screen appeared altered—colors looked faded and the peak brightness dropped significantly. I'm still puzzled about what caused this and how to resolve it.
I've attempted several solutions already: restarting my PC, the monitor, and adjusting all HDR settings. I also reset the display using factory options, calibrated the monitor via the MS Store HDR tool, reinstalled Nvidia drivers, performed a clean Windows reinstall, and even used Windows Update. None of these worked.
I've also verified common causes—checking the color settings in Nvidia's control panel, confirming the monitor's settings matched previous ones (32-bit depth, 12 bpc, RGB format, full dynamic range), and noting the monitor's peak brightness at 1100 nits. Despite these, colors now seem washed out and brightness is much lower than before.
I was able to restore vibrancy by setting Digital Vibrance to 70% in Nvidia's panel, but before that, I preferred 50%. Other games like Overwatch 2 and RE Village, which had high brightness, didn't show the same issue. I tried launching a game to see if it triggered the problem, but nothing worked.
I'm unsure what else I should try. One idea was a full Windows reinstall, but I'd prefer to avoid that if possible. I've attached my DxDiag file for reference, though I'm still confused about how launching a game could cause this.
Additional details: Running Windows 11, 64-bit, 22H2, Build 22621.674. The monitor model is per guidelines at https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Gigaguy777/saved/nhRKHx. The driver version is 526.47. I've decided to try a clean Windows reinstall again, but the same issues persist—colors are dimmed and brightness is significantly reduced.
