Level progression reminiscent of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim?
I’m seeking games for PC—either online or single-player—that offer skill progression akin to Skyrim, where abilities improve through consistent use. My searches have yielded Ultima Online and Repopulation as possibilities, along with a “Practice Makes Perfect” mod for Fallout: New Vegas. I believe Project Zomboid may also provide a comparable experience.
Ideally, my character’s capabilities would increase based on how frequently I utilize specific skills—for example, crafting proficiency would rise with repeated crafting attempts, and stealth abilities would improve through sneaking. Skyrim's skill system is the model I have in mind.
Skyrim’s success stems from this very mechanic, and it seems unlikely that games will replicate it without direct imitation.
I’ve reviewed Repopulation, which handles skill progression effectively, and I’m hoping for more titles with a similar leveling system to Skyrim and Repopulation; it provides a genuine sense of reward as your character advances, unlike games where progress is solely determined by enemy kills or improved bartering skills.
Regarding your PC game list, do you regularly maintain its updates?
Cyberpunk 2077, Horizon Forbidden West, Bloodborne, Starfield, Diablo IV, Pathfinder, Mass Effect Legendary Edition, Elden Ring, Greedfall, The Outer Worlds, are the most impressive games I’ve experienced.
