I found some NVidia drivers that limit overclocking quite a bit, possibly unrelated to your tweaks. Just check the card right away. Good luck!
Works well with my OC profiles for the 980ti

only thing matters unless there’s a power limit issue or thermal throttling? a poor OCR would generally crash, as you mentioned. then your card might just end up on the less favorable side of that luck of the draw, right? but I’m aware some Latte NVidia drivers have impacted my overclock performance and frame rates, and one reason I stick with older drivers like 355.82 is that. you might notice that card enthusiasts with 900 cards have reported that newer drivers sometimes caused issues in the 10 series. i tend to prefer drivers designed for my original card when it was released, since they focus more on fixing the 10 series rather than older models [opinion]. it could just be a matter of bad luck with your card, so don’t rely too much on what others are doing. good luck!
