Hello, over the past few months I've owned a Lenovo Y50-70 touch. I really enjoyed using it for gaming until I began playing titles like Black Ops 3. Most issues arose when playing GTA 5, but generally my CPU would drop from the expected 2.57 GHz to around 1.77 GHz during games. Could anyone assist me with this? Do you know what’s going on or any solutions? Additionally, I’m experiencing slow performance from my hard drive. I’m wondering if upgrading to a 7200 RPM SSD is the right move, since both have 8GB of storage. I appreciate any advice!

Check the power settings and make sure your device is configured for maximum performance when connected.

Even when operating at maximum power, the system will still drop to around 2.0Ghz or below

I heard about the HDD in the Y50 model having a high failure rate. My unit is still functioning properly, but two friends who own the same laptop reported drive failures. It seems thermal throttling might be the issue. I removed the back panel and cleared the dust filter, which was heavily covered in grime. Even after cleaning, airflow wasn’t optimal. Be cautious when doing this—don’t place the laptop in a way that traps large dust particles, as the filter is meant to block them. The best solution I found was to improve ventilation to reduce temperatures.
