I have a Lenovo Legion 5 with an RTX 3050 Ti and a Ryzen 5 5600H. I'm unsure if I'm facing a bottleneck. When playing Fortnite, my CPU usage averages 30% and GPU usage around 40%. I managed to hit 215 FPS after overclocking RAM and the GPU, but not the CPU. My monitor runs at 165Hz. I'm considering getting a 240Hz external display, but I worry it might not work well and could push my hardware limits. I'm unsure if upgrading to a 240Hz display would increase CPU and GPU usage enough to reach that speed. I've adjusted the system a lot, tried the Ultimate Performance Power Plan with the charger plugged in, and turned off Optimus with the drive enabled. I still have Optimus active. What should I do? Should I skip the 240Hz display and stick with my current setup? How can I balance GPU and CPU usage to achieve stable 240Hz at 1080p?

Your frame rate stays high and you're seeing 215, so adding an external monitor won't instantly boost it to 240. The gap isn't large enough to justify buying more hardware for most users. It's still a problem, but about five years ago, using external displays on a laptop could lower performance in some high-res scenarios.
