Lego burnout
Lego burnout
I'm not promoting a fresh Lego title. I'm here to discuss the unusual sensation I've noticed with the latest Lego releases. You can notice the shift between older and newer Lego titles. In previous games, the current player would be shown inside a blue circle for P1 or a green one for P2. With the newer versions, these icons are redesigned to match the branding or include animated character images that move. The problem is, I feel less engaged with the newer titles compared to the older ones. With older games, I could easily replay entire episodes and still enjoy them. But newer games leave me feeling exhausted after just one level. There might be several reasons for this change. One reason could be the increased length of levels in the new games. For example, compare playing the first level of Lego Star Wars: The Video Game (the initial release) with the most recent title (possibly DC Super Villains). Newer levels are much longer than their predecessors. That doesn't explain the issue with Lego The Lord of the Rings, which introduced mid-level checkpoints and a vast open world to explore. It could also relate to the departure of Lead Developer Jon Burton. His last project was Avengers, and my first burnout happened after Marvel Super Heroes 2. Another possibility is the update to the game engine, which brought better graphics, flashier effects, and longer loading times. Have you experienced this fatigue with the new Lego games? What are your thoughts on them? And what could be causing this tiredness? P.S. Would it be possible to have a speedrun for the initial level of every Lego title? (Excluding the full Saga collection, which combines Star Wars and Star Wars II content) The goal is to finish each first level without glitches and complete the corresponding yellow progress bar. Record your times per level so you can compare them later.
