Hey everyone. I've been setting up old PC games like Max Payne 2 and Hitman 3 on my Windows 10 machine. Most titles from the late '90s to early 2000s behave like they're stuck on an older GPU, even though I've chosen the Nvidia one. It seems the issue isn't with my manual selection but possibly how the games detect their hardware. These games should work smoothly on Windows 7, yet compatibility tools didn't resolve the problem. My system specs are a Lenovo Y5070 with an Intel Core i7 4710HQ, 4 cores, 8 threads, 16GB RAM, a 1600 GTX860m, and other components.

Have you attempted to push the game or application to run on the GTX860M? There should be a setting in the NVIDIA Control Panel for this.

Do you have DX9 installed? Also, games released before the WinXP era are typically DOS-based and might be causing issues.

It appears Optimus is malfunctioning and restricting the games to your Intel chipset instead of letting the 860M activate. Consider turning off Optimus in NVCP.

I recall an optimization involving d3dx9.dll with the dx9 package on Windows 10 that led to significant performance issues with older games. Reverting to an earlier .dll version resolved the problem. It's unclear if the developers ever addressed this officially.
